O Iesu! 'm nerth a'm nawdd!
Fy nghymorth hawdd ei gael,
Mewn hyder deuaf atat Ti,
Gwrandâwr gweddiau'r gwaed:
Dysgwyliaf wrth dy borth
Am gymorth yn ddi-feth,
I allu gwneuthur yn ddi-lys
D'ewyllys yn mhob peth.
Mae arna'i eisiau nerth
I ymwadu â fi fy hun,
I sathru lawr bob Gelyn serth,
Pleserau'r cnawd
a'i wŷn:
Nerth hefyd i barhau
Yn ffyddlon ddyddiau f'oes
I ddiodde' pob peth er dy fwyn
Heb rwgnach dwyn dy groes.
Mae arnaf eisieu'n wir
Cael golwg glir yn glau,
A gwel'd y drwg oddi yma draw,
Pan fo ger llaw'n nesâu:
Nerth hefyd i barhau
Yn ffyddlawn ddyddiau f'oes,
I ddyoddef pobpeth er dy fwyn,
Heb rwgnach dwyn dy groes.
Mae arna'i eisiau sêl
I 'nghymell at dy waith,
Nid rhag ofn y gosb a ddêl
Nac am y gyflog chwaith,
Ond gwir ddymuniad llawn
Ddyrchafu'th gyfiawn glod
Am iti wrthyf drugarhau
Ac edrych arna' i erioed.
Mae eisiau arnaf fi,
Dy nabod di yn fwy,
A gweld mor bur yw'th natur lân,
Mor frwnt fy hunan wy.
Mae arna'i eisiau'n wir
Cael gweld fy eisiau'n well,
Pob peth sy'n eisiau arnaf fi
Pan fyddech di ymhell.

O Jesus my strength and my refuge!
My support easily gotten,
In confidence I will come to Thee,
Hearer of the prayers of the blood:
I wait for thy sustenance
For unfailing support,
To enable to do constantly
Thy will in every thing.
I have a need of strength
To deny myself,
To trample down every ardent enemy,
The pleasures of the flesh
and its desire:
Strength also to remain
Faithful all the days of my life
To suffer everything for thy sake
Without grudging bearing thy cross.
I have a need truly
To get a clear view quickly,
And see the evil yonder away from here,
Whenever it is at hand approaching:
Strength also to continue
Faithful the days of my life,
To suffer everything for thy sake,
Without grumbling to carry the cross.
I have a need of zeal
To urge me to thy work,
Not from fear of the coming punishment;
Nor for the remuneration either,
But a true full wish
To exalt thy righteous acclaim
For showing mercy to me
And ever looking upon me.
I have a need,
To know thee more,
And see how pure is thy holy nature,
How filthy I myself am.
I truly have a need
To get to see my need better,
Every need that I have
Whenever thou art far away.

Jesus, my strength, my hope,
On Thee I cast my care,
With humble confidence look up,
And know Thou hear'st my prayer.
Give me on Thee to wait
Till I can all things do;
On Thee, almighty to create,
Almighty to renew.
I want a sober mind,
A self-renouncing will,
That tramples down
and casts behind
The baits of pleasing ill;
A soul inured to pain,
To hardship, grief, and loss,
Bold to take up, firm to sustain
The consecrated cross.
I want a godly fear,
A quick discerning eye
That looks to Thee when sin is near
And sees the tempter fly;
A spirit still prepared
And armed with jealous care,
Forever standing on its guard
And watching unto prayer.
I want a true regard,
A single, steady aim,
Unmoved by threat'ning or reward
To Thee and Thy great name.
A jealous, just concern
For Thine immortal praise;
A pure desire that all may learn
And glorify Thy grace.
I want with all my heart
Thy pleasure to fulfill,
To know myself, and what Thou art,
And what Thy perfect will.
I want I know not what,
I want my wants to see,
I want — alas! what want I not,
When Thou art not in me?
